    Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh: During her tour of Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday called on Myanmar government to take back all the Rohingya Muslims who have fled to Bangladesh to flee persecution in the Rakhine state of Myanmar.

     

    “In understand the pain of losing loved ones. The Rohingyas who have come to Bangladesh losing whatever they had will get temporary shelter in Bangladesh. But they must go back to Myanmar,” the Prime Minister told the refugees in a brief speech at Kutupalong camp at Ukhia in Cox’s Bazar district.

     

    “Utmost efforts are being made so you can return to your country with dignity,” she told the refugees who cheered her arrival despite their sufferings. Sheikh Hasina distributed relief to the refugees at the camp.

     

    The Prime Minister told the refugees: “We have given you shelter on humanitarian ground. We shall stand by your side.”

     

    She said Bangladesh is working on building an international campaign and opinion in favour of Rohingya population who have been denied rights of citizenship in their own country.

     

    During the visit Sheikh Hasina, accompanied among others by her younger sister Sheikh Rehana, talked to a number of injured Rohingya children and inquired about their welfare. She directed the local authorities to ensure the injured children get best of the medical treatment.

     

    Earlier on Monday night , Bangladesh parliament, the Jatiya Sangsad, unanimously adopted a motion urging the United Nations and the international community to exert strong diplomatic pressure on Myanmar to take back the Rohingyas, ensure their safe rehabilitation and give them citizenship rights.

     

    Speaking on the motion the Prime Minister said, “Myanmar has created the crisis and it must resolve it. As a neighbour we can cooperate with Myanmar to rehabilitate them (refugees) in their country.”
